The EM5813 Cardas Ear Speaker was, for a long time, a product that we never quite knew would become reality. The earphone from legendary cable maker George Cardas was in development for what seemed like an eternity. The man did not want to release the IEM till it was done right. Well after seeking out the companies small stand at this years high end in Munich I finally got them in my ears. I was in too much of a rush and there was too much noise in the gigantic exhibition hall to give them any thorough going over but I did take some quick notes. The vocals were very very engaging, almost in a way uncanny to being in ear monitors...almost speaker like (ear speakers right). Mid range was very lush and engaging. No sibilance was experienced on the test track. The cable is lovely, despite having to use a shirt clip for the weight (something I do anyway to avoid placing excess strain on jack points). The solid brass housing is surprisingly lighter than I expected. All in its a very nice piece of kit and something I would be interested in covering further in the future.
